I've switched to a wordpress blog, It's a work in process but please follow me there instead now! :) I've been with blogger for more than 6 years (not on this particular blog that long obviously) so it's a learning process for me but I think I am liking it.

Here is my new site!

High Tea and Campfire

A couple weeks ago my sister-in-law (Lauren), Aurora and I went to a High Tea in celebration of the Queen's 60th jubilee. It's not really my thing, at all,  but I knew Aurora would LOVE it so we dressed up, borrowed so fancy hats from my mom and went.

We had a really good time, Aurora drank about 3 or 4 cups of tea. She loved putting a sugar cube in each one (we don't generally sweeten our tea or coffee so she normally drinks tea black) and wearing her fancy new dress. She also learned a lot about who real Princesses are and what a real Queen does.
Lauren and my brother, Mark are in missionary training and are now away for the summer in Jungle camp. What that means is that they and the rest of their class (and 2 staff couples) went up in the bush, built houses (that will be taken down at the end of 4 weeks) and live on what they brought up in order to get a taste of life in a remote location in a foreign country. They get ready by canning a lot of food (no refrigeration up there and no trips to the grocery store for those 4 weeks in fact, no leaving at all except for her midwife appointments- yes, they are pregnant :) )

I will do a post with more info about jungle camp soon. I have to wait to get some photos during the open house. There is only 1 weekend they are allowed visitors and I think it's next weekend. :) You can check out their blog here for way more information on what they are doing. They keep it very up to date (when they aren't in Jungle Camp that is...)

Here are a some photos from a hanging out with the rest of the family. Obviously Mark and Lauren weren't there (Mark is my youngest brother) and my sister Carrie, who is a birth doula, was away at a birth, but the rest of us were there and enjoyed hanging out.
Gideon loves swinging. All the kids do really.
 My other sister-in-law, Shanelle.
Allistair enjoying some watermelon and waiting for uncle Jon to light the fire (he insists on using a flint instead of matches or a lighter...LOL it's a bit of a family joke.
 Aurora, Elliot and Ezekiel

It's so nice that all the cousins get along so well. They are all pretty close in age and really love playing with each other.
Levi is close to Gideon's age, he just turned 1.
And one last silly face from Gideon. He makes the craziest faces which definitely keep up laughing!

Losing

I absolutely love this song by Tenth Avenue North, the more times I hear it the more I love it. It's such a neat reminder.

It is so sad to see stupid little things break up families and friendships. When I think of all the times I have betrayed my Savior, forgot to spend time with him, not told someone about Him when I had the chance, ignored him to spend time on the computer or reading a random book or watch tv and those are just the dumb daily things; and yet he has forgiven me for SO MUCH and continues to daily. I have no right to hold grudges against others.

It's so true, my holding a grudge is not hurting them, it's hurting me. I am the one putting my mind in a prison of anger. Besides that, I cannot be in a right relationship with the Lord if I am holding a grudge against someone, especially against another believer. It makes me think of the story in the Bible of the servant who owed a huge debt to the king, the king forgave him his debt but the servant would not forgive the small debt of another. He was an idiot right? So are we if we are holding grudges. We have been forgiven so we need to forgive also.

When I was looking for the Official video (which I don't think exists) I found this one (on their website) and loved it, it's excellent enjoy. :)

beans, a new dog and summer vacation

Once again it has been WAY TOO LONG since I updated this blog. :( Ugh, I've been a slacker big time. (at least with regards to this site, everything else has been going smoothly LOL)

Gideon is growing like crazy. He's starting to try standing by himself. He's only attempted it twice now but still. He's so funny. His favourite thing to do right now is to "silent scream" whether he is angry or happy... it's pretty funny.

Aurora got a new haircut a few weeks ago. I had been contemplating it for a while, He hair was funny. When she was younger it was straight at the top then loose ringlets at the bottom, then one day it just changed and was tight curls at the top and the ends were kind of scraggly. I gave her a few trims thinking her ends were just split but it didn't help.
Finally I got up the nerve and cut it short (well it's about 5 inches long still.) she looks like Shirley Temple now. She has these amazing tight ringlets and doing her hair is simple now!

Our little plants are doing awesome!! The salad mix never did work, but the purple beans are actually growing beans now!! we found 4 of them today so far and ate one. LOL it was good!

Here is another one that i starting...

Our peas are flowered...

Here is Aurora with our tomato plant, carrots (in the middle) and more beans behind her. (she was just swimming and eating LOL)

Meet Zoey, our new doggy. She's really good. She's almost a year old and really well trained. She just needs to learn not to jump when she is excited and that is coming.

One of my nephews turned 1 last month and at his birthday party my mom set up a pretty awesome waterside for the kids. It went down a small hill right in front of her house so they could really get some speed up. Aurora loved it and so did her daddy. :)

I've been working pretty hard on my lesson plans for art class this fall. I am pretty excited about it. I checked out my classroom a few weeks ago and am dying to get in there and get it set up!!
My photography business has also been keeping me pretty busy, I have a few birth (tentatively) coming up which I am very excited about, Births are BY FAR my favourite thing to shoot, but it's still so new and unknown in my area.

I hope you are all having a great summer so far as well!! It's been so hot here but today it seems to finally have cooled off a bit which I am very thankful for.

Well, that's my update for now. Thanks for reading! Have a fabulous day and weekend!

The Pirates who don't do anything

Mapleton Organic Farm has this crazy maze (seriously, we ended up having to cheat more than once to get through LOL) and in the middle is this cool ship playground thing. The kids LOVED it and spend a long time "swabbing the deck" (my nephew likes Spongebob a lot) and being Pirates (they also love Veggie tales Pirates who don't do anything) and acting like crazy nut cases. :)

Then we all had organic ice-cream that they make right there. It was delicious!!

Farm Study Petting zoo trip

Today was a super fun day.
I had mentioned to my mom (she regularly babysits 2 of my nephews and has another nephew living with her for the past 2 weeks while his mom is visiting family in Northern Ireland) that I wanted to take Aurora to a petting farm for part of our Farm study unit. She thought it was a great idea and wanted to take my 3 older nephews (my sister-in-law took her youngest son with her)

Today was a great day for it. It's been cold here lately but today was warmer and mostly sunny. The kids had a GREAT time.
